—Calla, to Ronan when giving a reading.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Personality[edit | edit source]
Calla is a fierce, cunning, confident, and outspoken woman who will not accept insolence from anyone. She is judgmental, rather hostile towards strangers, and makes any room she's in seem smaller. She is also described as an "irascible, sedentary creature of habit" (117, TRB).
Calla has a special psychic ability called psychometry, where she can touch an object to reveal its origin, feel its owner's thoughts, and see places the thing has been. She is also fond of kickboxing, aerial yoga, and yelling.
Physical Description[edit | edit source]
Calla's skin is dark brown. She has four tiny coyotes tattooed running along her spine. She's also referred to as being 'not the thinnest woman on the planet', but is said to have impressive stomach muscles. Her hair is described by the Gray Man as looking purple in a certain light, but it is unknown whether she dyes it. Calla enjoys wearing lipsticks in unconventional shades, primarily plum.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
Maura and Persephone are Calla's best friends and make up the other two thirds of the "three-headed-entity" that makes decisions around 300 Fox Way. Calla also cares about Blue a lot.
Mr. Gray once tried to teach her how to dislocate someone's arm.
She and Ronan start out with a competitive-edged relationship. She calls him 'snake', but there's sometimes a little hint of the reptilian in her, too. (Chapter 15, TRB) Despite the fact that they don't exactly play nice together, Calla seems interested in Ronan's secrets. (Chapter 21, TDT)
