Seondeok is a magical artifacts dealer, criminal kingpin, and mother of Henry Cheng. She is one third of a triad of powerful artifact dealers who have a monopoly on Henrietta.
Biography[]
Seondeok is Korean. She met her husband in Hong Kong and raised several children with him there. Henry, her middle child, inherited her intuition and bookish intelligence, while his siblings are clever like their father. When Henry was kidnapped and ransomed by Laumonier, she kept cool under pressure, saying she "wouldn't pay for damaged goods," in order to negotiate for his release, unharmed and to discourage anyone else from kidnapping her children.
Seondeok purchased Robobee from Niall Lynch, outbidding her competitors Laumonier and Colin Greenmantle and establishing herself as their enemy. When her husband's attempts to replicate its design with conventional robotics failed, she gave it to Henry to protect him. After Niall's death, she began dealing with Declan Lynch. She earns his respect as a cut-throat businesswoman and they establish a working relationship, culminating in her warning him that visitors were coming to Henrietta in pursuit of the Greywaren. She gains psychic visions after a year of being mad.

Seondeok is very invested in keeping her son safe, even if that takes the form of aggressively negotiating with his kidnappers while maintaining she "doesn't pay for damaged goods."
