Jesse Dittley is a local of Henrietta, Virginia.
Biography[]
Jesse's name is on the list of people that Neeve Mullen sees during the St. Mark's Eve church watch, indicating his death will occur within twelve months.
Blue and Gansey meet him at the Dittley Farm and convince him to let them explore his cave, even though Dittley tells them that his family is cursed by it. In the cave they find Gwenllian. Later, Dittley reveals that strange creatures have been coming out of the cave, and sometimes coming into the house.
It is revealed that every so often the cave has "demanded a sacrifice" of the Dittley family. Jesse is entirely ready to be the cave's next sacrifice, just like his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather before him. Jesse surmises that the cave has no end. His destiny is fulfilled when Piper Greenmantle shoots him in order to enter the cave.
Jesse has a wife and children, one of them being a son, who left the Dittley Farm five years ago. They are said to come back again when the curse has been fed, presumably after Jesse's death.
Personality[]
Jesse is very kind and friendly. Blue ends up really liking him and is very hurt by his death, even though she knew it was coming.
Physical Description[]
Jesse his enormous and very tall. He has no "inside voice." It's not that he's yelling, he's just so huge that his voice is incredibly loud.
